Few questions

Hi, i have a few questions, please answer with full detail as i am really new to computer hardware.

Will that processor be able to run on my motherboard?

2 :Also some of my friends are suggesting that i buy a thermal pad or whatever that gel is called? is it necessary?
I mean i dont mind buying it but is it needed? can i stick the cpu and be done with it?

3: Also cooling, will this processor need an upgrade for fan or anything?


4: Is this processor better then the e7500 at 2.9 ghz?

Note: im low on money and this is my best bet at newegg, cant be bothered with ebay i tried getting a 47500 BUT THE BETS WENT UP TO $80 DOLLARS+ i won't be doing much gaming with this cpu. I play www.runescape.com it doesnt need that high tech cpu's but my current one is too slow.

1. and 4. No, it doesn't look like it's compatible, but you don't want it anyway; the E7500 is much better.

2. Yes, you absolutely DO need to get some thermal compound. You should NOT run the CPU without it.

3. The new CPU may come with a HSF (should say if it does or doesn't), but you will have to find a compatible aftermarket HSF, if it doesn't.

1. That processor is unsupported, the motherboard only supports these (and newer) processors:

Socket type: 775
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Core 2 Duo E7xxx (Wolfdale-M)
Core 2 Duo E4x00 (Conroe)
Pentium E2xxx series (Conroe)
Celeron Dual Core E1xx0 series (Conroe)
Celeron 4xx series (Conroe)

2. Thermal paste is needed between the CPU and the heatsink. You also need to clean the heatsink with rubbing alcohol before you re-apply the paste for the new CPU.

3. Probably not.

4. Absolutely not.

Hi guys thanks for the answers, i currently can't offored the e7500 its 80 dollars my budge is 50, can i go lower to e7200? is there a huge difference between e7200 and e7500. thanks.

There's a 400Mhz difference between them, but that's about it. It might be slightly slower, but if that's what you can afford, then go for it.
