FF2j for nes!

if you haven't seen it already, this site has a copy of and a story
about the official ff2j that was never released in the US. Apparently, a
preliminary title for the game was "Dark shadow over Palakia" as seen in

Except when it got a graphics and sound upgrade and was released as part of
"Final Fantasy Origins." FF3j is the one that's never had an (official)
English release.
