We had some Foscam units installed for the house at the first beginning and they run for approx. 2 weeks and suddenly stopped for some unknown reasons. We contact CS but never got a mail back, we tried to look for some replacement models on Amazon until we see HooToo HT-IP206, which has a 90% likeness in terms of appearance, specs.

I haven’t made the purchase given that I think I’d better confirm its compatibility before making any wrong decision.

I’ve check through all the specs of this HooToo HT-IP206, and I also checked the other counterpart models such as HT-IP207, HT-IP210F, both of which are indoor ones having similar features, I feel like these two models (previous Foscam FI8918W & HooToo HT-IP206) are just incredibly similar, whatever in their appearances, specs, and functionalities, etc. But still I can’t make the decision, anyone please help.

Thanks in advance.

Hey you can search the keywords "hootoo" from google, you will find all customer reviews about the hootoo, please check it:
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/HooToo

I have checked the amazon, then i can see the real problems from their main products, HooToo HT-IP210F and Hootoo HT-IP006. As I can see above, it seems they always use money to get some good reviews, remember too good to be true.

If you want to make the right decision. In my opinion, I will search amazon reviews with 4 stars above.

Check the same at newegg, lucky to know some of them having good reviews from customers. Not know for sure that if it's compatible but still be willing to take a chance, since Foscam is geting me frustracted and I'm fed up with their cs team.

Actually, Foscam FI8918W is not exactly as the same as Hootoo HT-IP206. FI8918W has both audio in and out interface for external mic and speaker. But HT-IP206 has only one audio output as it says it is a 'two-way audio output' in the specifications.
Besides, HT-IP206 has a motion detect alarm output and FI8918W does not.
Also the pan/tilt angle is different, FI8918W pans horizontally 30° more than HT-IP206.

I ranked the search results for keyword 'ip camera' @amazon.com by Avg. Customer Review and accidently found another one you might be interested in, which is Loftek CXS 2200 and it's the only one that has a four-star review except Foscam FI8910W.
I suggest you try this one since Foscam is totally out of your options.

It is a little bit more expensive than HT-IP206 but it seems like that Loftek is more of a professional ip camera manufacturer than Hootoo.

I am impressed by their Loftek Sentinel D1 and I want one for my garden but it’s a pity that it does not work with night vision. I emailed them to see if there is a way to figure it out and was told that Loftek Sentinel D2 and Loftek Sentinel D3 which has dozens LEDs are comeing within two weeks, so I will be waiting for them.

I got their reply in two hours after sending the email out, it is really prompt.
Please let me know how their product works if you try Loftek. Thanks in advanced.

Hi , I have a HooToo HT-IP206 I did some research an i try and succeeded flashing Foscam firmware on it and WEB UI too so if you want you probably can install at least Web UI from one or other Brand to all compatible cameras and access them on one Web browser window. Now about Compatibility it seams that different brands are selling the same product whit different name and price. same is for wireless cards etc. If the chips are the same driver or firmware should work, now it`s always a risk, but that it is just an idea and no body can tell you what you should do.

Maledus,

I'm not sure I will take that risk but my camera is kind of unresponsive to my command after couple of months. Shall I flush the firmware with foscam version? Do you happen to have that firmware handy for my indoor Wansview? The camera was bought off from amazon in Apr but it's really causing nothing but frustration, anyways it's cheap!!

Recommend to check the new camera you get to make sure its not a foscam being sold under a different name brand. I'm using a logitch which is so far a good performer. Running it with an app called Cams2Me.net which gives me remote viewing access from my iPhone so when out traveling.. I can check in on home.. record ..and get alerts. I got mine app at the apple store.. two together makes an awesome security system. itunes.apple.com/us/app/cams2me/id757008976 I hope this helps!
