Fiber with 3Mbps or DSL with 5 Mbps ?

Hey Guys i just wanted to know or ask your opinions on what should i be getting for my internet connection at my house. First is that There are probably like more than five of us at the house and we always use the internet like all the time. Were currently using 5 Mbps DSL connection but its still slow. I just wanted to know that would it make a difference if i were to use 3 Mbps Fiber connection or would it just be the same. i love to play games and watch movies online but when someone watches on youtube or use facebook they tend to buffer and lag spikes happen a lot. So let me know what you guys think

Well 3-5mbps is really poor speed either way-where do you live? Is internet service/speed just bad in your area/country or limited providers?

Don't fall for it because is "fiber" or "carbon fiber" or "nano-blah." 3 and 5 mbits are the hard numbers, that's what matters. How they deliver those numbers to you do don't do didly squat.

Are you sure fiber is limited to only that amount delivered to you? Because fiber has more bandwidth than coax cable, its quite the stringy act if 370~400KB/s ish is what they can only offer you.

If thats all you can get then yes fiber will serve your household better than a DSL copper phone line connection.

Kinda hard to believe they would run fiber only to deliver less than DSL.

i live in philippines we have no choice but to accept that we have the <mod edit> ISP in the world

Fair enough.

Cable/fiber can handle more simultaneous connections than dsl.

Either way mate with that limited connection speed, regardless whether its fibre or dsl or what ever other tech you will still face the same issues when multiple users try to do their thing.

^ dsl 400k will bottom out with two pcs connected, i have experience with that. 400K via cable wont be as restricted.

Your best bet is to check with anyone you know who has one of them. Either line could be oversold.
