So why do you think fiber is better.

Just use cat5e ethernet cables and hook everything to a switch with gigabit ports. You can easily get a 16 port switch with gigabit ports for under $100. Every machine will be able to transfer 1gbit up and 1gbit down at the same time. It is impossible to get any lan bandwidth issues with modern switches.

OK fiber is meaningless to me, you are really asking whether you should have a 10 gig LAN instead of readily available 1 gig. How is delivered copper or fiber don't matter to me.

Go 10 g if your game stations need to routinely download large games from a local server.
