FIFA 16 not using my GPU (super annoying)

FIFA 16 does not use my GPU for some reason.

When i launch the game the resolution is fixed at 1280x720 and i get 1-5 fps from the start.

I checked catalyst and it showed 0% gpu activity.


I know that my drivers are installed properly because i can play the new tomb raider, gta v , csgo flawlessly at very high settings.

In fact i used to play FIFA 16 on my current rig but on a different hard disk so i know it works at max settings (100+fps).


What can seem to cause this?

Might somehow be trying to use your onboard GPU. You completely disabled iGPU in BIOS? Should prevent it from trying to use onboard graphics.

If your display is connected to the graphics card, your computer is using the graphics card and not the on-board graphics and there is never any need to disable on-board graphics.

If this is a laptop with a discrete graphics card, then anytime the graphics card is not need (you click to a window other than a game), it will automatically switch to on-board graphics.

i dont think thats the issue because i have like 20 other games installed and this error is only in FIFA

It is a pc and my display is connected to the graphics card and not the CPU...like i said its a very weird error because i had once played fifa 16 on this very rig (sans the hard disk...i upgraded to ssd) and i currently play lots of other games

I think you are mistaken with the issue, its not possible for it to be using the IGPU if your monitor is plugged into the graphics card.

I suspect your problem is something else, have you tried installing the newest drivers for your graphics card? Have you installed the latest patches for Fifa?

Listing all your specs would be helpful too.

my Specs are
Processor: i7 860 @ 2.8Ghz
Ram: 8Gb
GPU : AMD 7870 OC edition


I have no clue why my GPU is not being used, i have played the game on this rig before and have never even heard of such an issue before.

Try uninstalling the game and reinstalling.

Why did you change hard disk for it? what hard disk is it on now?

I had a regular hard disk drive...i upgraded that to a SSD and did a fresh OS install...other than that nothing has changed.

Yes ive tried reinstalling the game multiple times, no luck.
