Fighter bug?

I was doing some simulations and noticed that with one particular
fighter type, no VCR's were generated when I tested it versus a Loki, no
matter what settings I used.

Finally I realised what is happening (I think).

The fighter's combat speed is 30. It simply can't intercept the Loki
which moves faster than the fighters(!!!) in the VCR. Some bit of combat
logic makes the two stay a bit away unless (I finally found) the Loki is
not set to 2nd wave.

Surely if both are set to attack (Loki: attack soft; Wing: attack
dangerous, plus assorted other commands during various iterations) it
stands to reason they'd close and fire.

I know there's a "cowardice" factor built into Wing logic if they lose a
few fighters but it seems a bit excessive.

I've noticed that several fighter types (the slower ones) get "stuck"
and combat and refuse to move. That might be causing boring combat
events which don't generate a VCR.

Try simming Fed type 1 and type 2 wings. You may need to add some type
3 wings to get a VCR generated.

IMT type 3, let me know if you want the racepack.
The effect disappears if it's mixed in with other fighter types.

I vaguely remember a complaint that fighters just sit there and don't move
or shoot during the entire VCR if they are a wing of pure 1s from some race,
but I don't recall which race.

Suggestion:
Add ships with massive armor and shields but wimp weapons (so the ships
can't hurt each other nor the fighters). Maybe 1 tech 1 weapon. That should
cause a shot to be fired and then you will get a VCR generated so you can
watch the wing and see what it is doing.

Try Voltar G: 10 wings of 10 against a Cube. Look and have fun.

Anni's blowing up against fighters? Now that sounds interesting...
