Fighters refuelling from resupply pods.

Am playing the Colonials and am trying to push the envelope of the
range of my fighters and was wondering if I can use resupply pods
(aside from ships) to dock to while they make there trek through space

Is this possible to do? Do I need to put in fuel or can I just about
put in any kind of - item in it? Will the pod consume the fuel ?

Interesting tactic. Though why would you want use pods instead of
scouts? The scouts get there faster, move and can scan wherever you
want. Anyway, to your question, don't know but am interested in the
answer. I might even try to dock with a pod myself 🙂

Yup. Put 1 fuel into the pod - I don't know if it is necessary, but
with it it does work. I 'think' I heard it doesn't work if there's no
fuel inside the pod, but I am not sure. 1 fuel will be enough to refuel
unlimited fighters for unlimited turns.

Jup- very good for no so long range fighters: If you build them at several
bases and somehow need to gather them at one base. Just make them to wings
and fly.
This is better than the to put them in pods if you have ressource point
problems.. and a *lot* of money :)

By the way: has anybody noticed that mixed wings sometimes have more 'range'
than they should have. For example a Scavenger T1+T3 having 98 Ly range
although T1 has 90 and T3 has 60 ? This seems to be at random for me and I
have often verified it by sending these wings around.

You definately need that 1 fuel in the pod... and it is never
consumed. This tactic is a must for the Rebels. Just HYP out every
200ly or so and drop a Fuel pod... 25mc & 1 fuel and your fighters will
never be out of range of an easy refuel. Intercept your target and
destroy it, and set WP1 to the nearby refuel pod... your fighters can
patrol your space and never run out of fuel and you don't need
mineral-expensive ships around. IMO, this needs fixed before Gold
edition.

fighters to work even more effective! Thanks guys.

technically you would need 1 ord on the pod as well - since the cat is
out of the bag.

If you hunt down in the docs, 1 ship fuel is = to something like 10,000
fighter fuel and 1 ship ord 10,000 fighter ord - or something equally
rediculous like that.

Yes, I agree, the consumption rate used in refueling and rearming
fighter wings needs to be adjusted when you look at the damage that
they do.....you should have to load that pod up and it should get used
as time goes by.

Other than that, this is a perfectly good practice.

Lets just make fighters consume fuel and ord.
Shouldn't add too much micromanagement and it would make it all more
credible.

And nobody tells me fighter demands are minimal. Try to think about how much
PTT you needed to make as much damage as ie. 10k rebel fighters.

Would be fine if the fighter follow their WP...
