It finally came to me.
sayNO is so worried that if he tells us what he's been playing we'll
use it against him. Most of us already think he's a kook, so what
could lower our opinion? What game could be so bad?
Doom3?
FarCry?
COD?
BF1942?
Pretty much all games are a matter of taste and have their fans. Even
if most of the group started hassling him about his favourite games,
there'd be a few people to say "yeah, that's a cool game all right"
But there is ONE game that would be horribly humiliating for him to
admit to playing.............
He's playing Half Life 2!
It makes perfect sense. He thinks it's the most evil thing to ever
enter the world. It's seduced thousands of people to the dark side.
It's like the forbidden fruit to him. Sooner or later he HAD to try
it. (if only to know what the attraction was)
But of course he has to deny it. If he didn't, he'd go down in the
history books as the biggest hypocrite the world has ever known.
Entire newsgroups would form to ridicule him. Laughing at Difool/sayNO
would take up more internet bandwidth than porn. Game design courses
would spend an entire semester making fun of him.
So he has to continue claiming to be playing SECRET games that only HE
can know about.
