File access denied even after taking ownership of the HDD

Hi all, I have files on an HDD of a user who left the company I work for, but the HDD has files, that I do not have permission to copy, even though I have taken ownership of the root and all subfolders. This is a major part of my job and I don't want to sit for hours on end, adding myself to the permissions list on hundreds of files. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you don't have permission on the drive then you're not supposed to be accessing it.
Sorry we don't help/support/advocate the practice of bypassing security measures.
It's also against the terms of use/rules of conduct on the forums.
