Hi all.
So I recently reformatted and installed windows 10 and realised that the file explorer search bar seems to pick up all files such as hidden ones which I don't want.

I'm trying to disable it or omit results but I can't for the life of me find anything online in relation to removing or disabling the search in file explorer, all I've found is guides on how to remove search history.
I've disabled Cortana and stopped indexing but these don't seem to affect the file explorers search.
I know back on windows 7. I could change an option in folder options to pretty much stop the explorer search from picking up everything. But windows 10 only has file explorer options and it seems to have removed a lot of the options.

Any ideas? Cheers

Hi, if you install [Classic Shell 4.3.0], it has an option to disable the Search box on Explorer windows. To do this, open Classic Explorer Settings, click on the "Title Bar" tab and choose the "Hide Search box" option. I just tested this and it worked for me (to remove the search box). Classic Shell also includes classic start menus (and in my opinion they are great).

I don't think you can prevent hidden files from showing if your Explorer settings allow you to see hidden files. Read this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3040954/hide-files-folders-search.html

Hi All,
is there anyway (without installing additional SW), to remove the search box/field from File Explorer in Windows 10 Pro (64-Bit)? Also, Classic Shell does not remove the search box from application "Open" and "Save-As" dialogs.
Thanks,
J
