Back in the early DOS days I used a FileInformation (FI) program that was part of the Norton Utilities. It was a very handy tool to create short descriptions of the various files in a particular directory. The FI program was dropped from the Norton Utilities, and I have never been able to find a replacement. What I want to do is tag individual files in a folder with a brief description that I can access to refresh my memory when looking at a folder.

Does anyone know of a utility that does what the old FI program did? And why did they drop it anyway?

Right. That's how I used the FI program. I would add a brief description, but the file name itself remained unchanged. The reason I would like such a program now is to attach such a description to my camera image files without having to actually rename the files. The old utilities also had a DirectorySort (DS) utility that was a lot more versatile than what Windows offers, and I miss that utility as well.
