File Preview not working in the preview pane of "Windows Explorer" in Windows 7 Pro.

I can no longer (could with my previous laptop with same version of windows) preview files in the preview pane of Windows Explorer (the file manager *not* the browser) except for jpeg. The first page of any Pdf, word, excel docs, etc... does not show in preview pane on the right.

What could be wrong?

Do you have a PDF reader or writer and Office type program installed on the new laptop? I'd give 10-1 odds you had those installed on the old one but not on the new laptop.
