My sister recently had to have her laptop repaired. When she got it back she was notified that her motherboard had been switched. this deleted all of her files and reset her laptop. Is there anyway to recover the files? She is contacting the repair place so is there anyway they can do it? Thanks for the help.

Solution
All legitimate repair companies will warn you to backup your data before sending in the computer because they for some reason like to format hard drives. Replacing a motherboard should not cause any issues unless they change the type completely and even then they should be able to get it running again without deleting any data.

Try running GetBackData Simple on their, the free version will at least tell you if there is anything to recover and then you can decide if you want to pay the license to recover it.
