That's the issue. It was a backup of a netgear nas ready server that got damaged causing issues to divide and disks

The nas fell off a high self and went crooked damaging 1 of the 4 disks. We did have it backed on on a tape but are desperate to find a way to recovery. The nas was our main server and the disk was supposed to be a back up and my whole life of photos are in that tape. How to extract them now to a new storage device?

"damaging 1 of the 4 disks "
Was this a RAID of some sort? What type array? 0, 1, 5, other?

Recovery from the tape would be however the tape device manufacturer says to do it.
