Hello,
I am running Windows 7. I had an old .tex file (from about 6 months ago) in the recycle bin that I wanted to restore. I right-clicked on the file and selected restore. Now, I cannot find the file anywhere. I searched on the date, name,... No luck. Does anyone have any idea where it could be? Thanks for your help. I am new to Windows 7.

All the best,
Bob

Solution
try telling windows to search everywhere instead of just indexed locations. The file may not have been indexed when you restored it. The option should be under the advanced search options, but I'm not 100% sure and I don't have access to my Win7 PC right now.

Suppose the original location is not still available, then where does the file go. The file was quite old, from about 6 months ago, so I think there is a good chance its exact file path may not sill be available.

I had once issue like u. I deleted the orig. location, and could not find it anymore. I guess it does not restore, if there is not location anymore available. If its something "precious", just drag it back with mouse to whatever location.

But it happened in WinXP sp3 :), which I switched to Win 7 less than few months ago.
