File search doesn't work very well

Hello,

(Intel Core 2Duo E8400@3gHz / 4GB ram / Win 7 Prof 64-bit )

problems:

#1) when I do file searches, I almost always get really, really slow searches, and about 75% of those end up giving me a "Not Responding" slowdown/freeze. I have 7-9 External HDDs hooked up almost all the time. Is this just always going to happen with that many Ext HDDs?

#2) for those searches that DO complete, i know for a fact that they leave a lot of files out that should be included....I know because I can ALWAYS go manually find more files that weren't included but should have been. I do NOT think this is just an "indexing" fix like so many people seem to think. Indexing/not indexing seems to solve nothing with my ongoing issues with the above-mentioned.

Please advise if anyone has similar experience etc Thanks!

In my experience, Windows 7 search just doesn't work very well. Your large number of external (and likely slow) drives is just going to compound this.

I agree with Willard, you could also verify all of your drives are indexed, if they are it is possible your index is corrupt and needs rebuilt
