Question File sharing with a strange configuration ?

Ok, I use to be in a spot where I can hook up wired, well moved around and that is no longer an option, But I have a smaller computer for file sharing along with my gaming rig, The small computer has a wifi adapter built in, its slow for file transfers, Anyway I still have my 10 port switch hooked up and I can share my wifi from my gaming desktop to the ethernet and it works fine, but I can not access the file share from either computer over the ethernet, it either wants to use wifi, or it gets confused and tries to identify the ethernet connection which it never happens.

I also tried a network bridge, it just don't work well. Is there any why possible to still access file shares over ethernet but keep internet access on wifi, I tried setting a static IP on the nic's, same subnet and IP range, it just doesn't seem to work if I try to connect to the file share with its IP or network name.

Probably should just deal with wifi speeds, not like I need gigabit, but it would be nice.

Both Machines are on Windows, so ya know how Windows networking is like lol

Thanks!

Your ethernet network needs to have a different subnet than your primary network. Use the wired IP address of the second computer to access it. That should ensure you are using wired connectivity.

I could of sworn I tried this, I used a different subnet from the wireless, and matched it with the other machine, It works now, I really don't understand why it didn't work, the only thing I could think of was it was still doing it thing and I tried to rush it to see if it worked, idk. But this did work, Thank you!
