files/folders won't stay saved/deleted from PNY 32GB SDHC card

On Black Friday of last year, I bought a new (cheap) HP laptop with Windows 8.1 and a new PNY 32GB Micro SDHC card. Everything's been fine until recently.

When I try to add or delete something from the card, it looks like it works right until I take the card out and put it back in. The stuff that was added is gone and the stuff that was deleted is back.

I saw a thread about something similar on Microsoft's website where a guy was having a problem with a Sandisk 64GB card and he had a file/folder called .drobox.device show up and someone said it wasn't supposed to be there. He was having the same problem, except that my SD card doesn't have the .dropbox.device file/folder on it.

Is there anything that I can do? I'd like to avoid taking the time to format my SD card if at all possible - not that my laptop doesn't have enough free space to copy the stuff from the card, I'm just lazy like that lol.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have tons of music, movies, and pictures on it. It only has a little over 6GB of free space left.

It's not write locked. I think I'm just gonna try to format it.

When I bought it, I noticed that there was another one next to it - same brand, size and everything - but the label had something else on it, I can't remember what, though, but that one was about $3.00 more than the one that I got. I went and asked somebody what the difference was and she said that one can access data faster than the other or something like that, so I just went with the cheaper/slower one.

I don't know if that helps or not.

On a side note: Nice profile pic! Loved Duke Nukem 3D. I even remember the slogan from the magazine ad saying "Doom rocks but Duke rules!" lol.

I never tried the first Duke Nukem, but I did try the newest one at my grandma's house on either their Xbox 360 or their PS3. It was pretty cool.

As for MiniTools, I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I tried MiniTools but it didn't work. I tried formatting and wiping. I even tried using Windows 8.1's own built-in format tool and it didn't work.
