Hi all,
I am placing an order for the following components for a photo (and some videos) editing PC. What do you think? Thanks

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x
MoBo: Asus x370-Pro
Fan: Cryorig h5 Universal or Noctua NH-U12S
RAM: 16gb G.skill Tridentz RGB 3000 CL15
GPU: RX470 or RX570
SSD: Samsung EVO 250gb
HDD: 3tb WD 5400
PSU: Corsair RM650x
Case: Phanteks P400S TG

Solution
the 1700 and 1700X oc abt the same. u can get the 1700, and get a be quiet dark rock tf to cool that. video editing is cpu dependent. a 2nd gpu wont give u any boost in perf. and u also wont be needing a x370 unless u r a hardcore oc fan or using a 2nd gpu. but like i said, gaming with a single gpu is better[scaling is not that good]. so get a rx580 and gigabyte gaming 3 b350 mobo. and like others said, a seasonic g 550 is more than u need.

Your PSU is a bit overkill, the whole system only uses 400-450 watts. As for a cooler, I recommend the Cryorig. I own a Cryorig cooler myself (R1 universal) and it's awesome. Although, the cooler is 160mm in height and the max height (in your case) is 160mm. This might give some problemos, but probably it will be just fine. As for a graphics card, I recommend the RX 570, it's cheaper than the 470, and performs better.

By the way, you didn't list your RAM capacity, but if it's 16gb or over it's more than enough for photo editing. For video editing you might want 32gb, but it isn't needed (for as far as I know)

Hard drive? Videos esspecially take up a lot of space. A cheap (~$50) 2tb Hard Drive would be a great addition.

Hope this helps!

Many thanks Stumpy! Yes, I forgot to mention, but 16gb of RAM.
I would really prefer the Cryorig H5 Universal, but the problem is that they dont come with AM4 support. The upgrade kit is free, but takes 3-4 weeks to be delivered :((

Indeed, the system uses even less than that, 300W according to Outervision calculator. I was more thinking on the line of having a second GPU to extend useful life of the system, for video editing for example - but in fact this might remain just on the paper :) so 550w, then!

True, Lehan, forgot to mention: I have a 3TB Western Digital 5400rpm that will use as main storage. :) Update the original post. Thank!

Why did you choose a WD 5400RPM drive rather than a faster 7200RPM Seagate or Toshiba drive for around the same price?

No particular reason, it is a drive that I used as external backup in the past. I will upgrade in the future once the pc is set up.

Many thanks Lucky_SLS! I will then move to a B350 - I need to find one with a white accent, rather than red :(
Will downgrade PSU to 550w and will think about 1700 vs 1700x. As I use Photoshop & Lightroom which use mainly single core, a bit more mhz straight out of the box might be helpful, as it looks like that overclocking 1700 increases wattage well beyong 1700x

ahaha that one is too much white indeed. Something like the X370-Pro, black with just some white accent rather than red https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X370-PRO/
that would match better with other components
