For gaming, this might be a better build. No need for 16gb ram unless you're using ram hungry programs like adobe or a lot of video encoding. A similar cost build might be a lower cost locked i5 with a gtx 970 although the 970 and 290x trade blows and are pretty even in most games. Might be worth waiting until the new cards come out (300 series) to see if 2xx series cards fall in price any. Same case and everything else, swapped the power supply for a better quality one.
