Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could check my build for compatability, if I have everything needed, and just a final build before I order my parts. Also, is a DVI-D cable for my monitor enough for the full 144 Hz? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
- I also wanted to know if Ubuntu is good enough for games like Steam games and others likke LoL.

EDIT:

I also wanted to know which of these graphics cards are better for my purpose (1080p gaming)
Thanks!

This build is good but not worthy and some pieces have better "variants".
There is no point going for Haswell when Skylake cpus have the same price
Change cpu, mobo, ram, gpu, ssd, and psu with these pieces:

i7-6700k (but i5-6600k has same performances in game, so you could save some money)
asrock z170 extreme 4 (one of the best in its range and cost)
corsair vengeance lpx 2133mhz or above, but check the latency (CL) it must not be higher than 15
psu excellent but it's too much, a 650w is the best size for any build with 1 gpu, 750w is good for SLI of non-Top Nvidia cards but it's not enoguh for top gpus Nvidia or AMD, imho it's the most useless size.
Gpu: take the gigabyte g1 gaming edition gtx970
Samsung evo 850 or Crucial MX200 are...

Samsung evo 850 or Crucial MX200 are faster
monitor is fine but i'd go for a wqhd like the asus MX299Q, same price, but in this case an AMD R9 390x would perform much better
the cpu cooler you chose is good for low overclocking, better get a Cryorig H5

N.B. Nvidia is launching new gpus during summer you could wait for them
