Again a monitor is mostly personal preference. There was nothing wrong with your original other then it was not what i would have chosen .

I do think you will be more happy with 1920x1200 as opposed to 1920x1080 though.

Both those monitors you chose will do fine in that setup. Your build looks good to me, I might go for a GTX 280 instead but if that is too far out of the price range then go ahead with that build, it will be good.

what type of card reader would good

What type of camera do you have, and what type of Flash cards do you use with it? That is, SD, SDHC, xD, Sony, what? The most important thing is to get a reader that knows the format you need.

i have a sony hdr-ux10/ux20 handycam and pentax k20d camera

The Pentax K20D uses SD/SDHC memory cards, so make sure you get a reader that supports that. The Sony needs proprietary Memory Stick Pro Duo.
A quick search at Newegg found a single reader that knows both:
