Ever since I found out about MAME 6+ years ago I'm finally going to
make a dedicated cabinet for it. I quickly got hooked on MAME and then
I got into collecting full size original Video games. Bought a
warehouse full and everything got put on the back burner. Yesterday a
friend picked up a couple of used computers from the school sale. Said
he has 2 pentium 3 systems for me for free. It's a huge school system
and each year they sell off a few hundred computer systems. All the
money goes to the school's clubs. The better systems sell for $40 each
and older ones for $20. He bought them and is giving them to me because
of all the great deals I gave him on games in the past.
Now my question, what type of cabinet to make? I'm the guy who made the
Pacman cocktail and Ms pacman cocktail plans that are on the internet
for free download. I already have pacman and galaga cocktail so I might
not want another one. I have information on a bartop cabinet and also a
desktype cabinet (like centipede cocktail). Not sure which way to go. A
full size cabinet is out of the question, I already have 18 games in my
basement along with 8 pinball machines so room is very limited.
Not sure on the controls, certainly a joystick but not sure if I should
have a trackball and spinner. I already have a Multipede
(centipede/millipede) upright so I might not need a trackball. I do
love omega race so I might want a spinner for that tempest and
Arkanoid. What other games use a spinner?
Any suggestions on cabinets and controls are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
