Last time i had a weird problem where my monitor would turn off and on repeatedly about one month and finally I figured out that it was my HDMI cable.

I am using a Gigabyte GS27Q 1440p monitor and i am playing in 1440p with an HDMI 1.4 4k cable.
I sent my PC to an expert and he said it was my HDMI 1.4 cable.
He replaced it with an HDMI 2.0 cable and now the issue has dissappeared.
But I have a few questions:

Was my previous HDMI 1.4 cable not suitable to play in 1440p 144 hz ?

If the cable is hot will there be a problem?

Now the technician replace my cable with hdmi 2.0 and play at 1440p 120 hz.will there be a problem with my hdmi 2.0 to play at 1440p 120 hz?

If the cable is hot will it be broken later on?

My vga DP port is broken that's why i dont use dp cable.

Might I ask what cable you're using now? A link to said cable would help us two fold. In what condition is the cable managed behind the monitor?

Honestly, I literally touched my DP cable since I run that at 1440p 144Hz, out of concern that maybe my cable would be running hot, but alas, it's cool tot he touch. You might be having a power delivery issue with your cables, lack of airflow around the cables or perhaps worse, you have a bad quality cable for the job.

I am using HDMI 2.0 cable and it gets hot when i am gaming.

What is the source video adapter?
Is it capable of hdmi 2.1 or what?
While hdmi 1.4 is capable of 4k resolution, it is only at 24hz.

There are also various qualities of hdmi cables that can make a difference.
It is a PC.it is capable of hdmi 2.1.my previous cable is hdmi 1.4 but idk why i can set it to 144 hz at 1440p .now is hdmi 2.0
