I've been scanning about 10+ years of photo prints onto my NAS (RAID 5). I have about 1TB in the one directory. Each photo is around 2MB.
I'm trying to find photos of a specific topic, i.e., automobiles. The pix are scanned in using a Fujitsu fi7160 in batches by developed date. Each batch has between 18 and 36 photos.
Is there a search method or software that could search just for automobiles?

Unless the specific image files have been somehow tagged with metadata of "automobile", no.

Unless you maybe want to subject your whole data store to the magical 'AI'.

Yes, you can use this, good options would be Google Photos, Adobe Lightroom or Apple Photos to automatically detect and search for objects like cars. They use image recognition to tag and index photos by content, so you can search using common terms like “car” or “vehicle”. You will need to import the photos and indexing can take a while with 1TB, but after that the search becomes fast and accurate.
