ASUS A58M-A/USB3 Motherboard with an AMD A4 6300

There is a lot to this story. Sorry. I purchased the above motherboard to run Windows Server 2003 as a backup server. As I recall, I did install the windows server successfully. Then, experimenting, I installed Linux Mint successfully. However, when I went back to install Windows server 2003 it would not install. The error message was:

START OF MESSAGE

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this STOP error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers, check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /f to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF789EA94, 0xC00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

END OF MESSAGE

I then tried to install Windows XP and the error message was the same.
I then tried to install Windows 7 and the error message was:

The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation can not proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.

I tried the install on two other hard drives and the error messages were still the same for all OSes.

The conclusion I came to was that the ASUS motherboard must have failed.

I tried to reorder the ASUS motherboard but they are out of stock almost everywhere. There is one in Italy for sale. (Wonder if the BIOS is in Italian)

I then purchased a new motherboard only to read in it's specs that to run windows xp it requires a Trinity APU. I then returned this motherboard and was sent another one which they assured me would run windows xp with my CPU only to read the same thing.

The motherboard I have now is a Gigabyte F2A78M-D3H

I never heard of a Trinity APU. I am LOST. I need help. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

Near as I can determine, My A4-6300 will not work for me with the Gigabyte motherboard I now have.

An AMD A6-5400K sold on Amazon for a reasonable $48.00 should do the trick I think.

This may be my cheapest way out. However, the gigabyte motherboard has an 8 pin power connector and my power supply has only a 4 pin. Can I and should I make it work?
