Hello overclocking friends!
I have a long and sad story with my Threadripper 1950X and RAM problems.
Long story short: It was November 2017 when my old setup died with dying PCIe lanes on the motherboard or CPU. I then saw AMD's Threadripper and got blind... I made the mistake and looked for the biggest and best looking RAM kit I could get without knowing how ram picky Ryzen actually is: Corsair CMD128GX4M8A2666C15
First one module was dead and I RMA'd it. Then my system didn't POST with the new kit until I removed some modules. It was fixed by a BIOS update. But I can't get this RAM stable to this day even without overclocking in stock speed 2133 CL15. In the QVL I also see the kit is listed but with a specific version number I don't have. Through RMA I got a random version. So I am screwed and Lost 1400 EUR of money. Mostly my fault. I even changed the PSU cause I thought voltages might be unstable or so...
So my question is now:
Which RAM is DEFINITELY compatible with my setup?
My requirements:
- 64 GB as 4 modules, cause I think it's impossible to get 8 stable
- Fastest possible XMP profile, best would be not under 3200 MHz
- Lowest possible latencies
Full system specs:
Corsair HX1200i PSU
ASUS ROG ZENITH EXTREME
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X - Currently at 4GHz 1.375V stable
400 GB Intel 750 Series NVMe PCIe Card SSD (OS)
1000 GB Intel 6000p Series M.2 NVMe SSD (Games + Documents folders)
GeForce Titan X 2nd Gen Maxwell
Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q
I really hope you can help me pick the correct RAM for this system in order to get it fast and stable as it can be so I will have fun with it for years to come and forget about all the trouble and money I've wasted.
PS: I have the Enermax TR4 360mm liquid cooler. Pump is always 100% and the fans are controlled by my own DIY* fan controller which works splendidly! 19-21°C idle, max. 66°C Prime95 max heat!

*In case of anyone being interested in the fan controller, I can send you links via PM.
