Which iPhone model do you have and do you know what version of iOS it runs?

Do you ever backup your phone using iTunes?

Okay so you replied via PM:

I have the iPhone 4S model. I have installed IOS 7 and have been notified to install IOS 7.0.4 but have not done so yet due to this issue. Yes, I do backup my phone using iTunes.

Hello RealBeast,

Let me say "thank you" for trying to help me retrieve my lost iPhone photos. I appreciate your time. Here is what has happened with my iPhone photo recovery process: I took your advice and downloaded the EaseUS system. After the program has scanned the device there are pictures shown to you on screen to see if you recognize them. The program showed about 15 photos. I recognized only 2 photos as my own. (Old photos which I already had copies of on my computer.) Then when you hit "recover" the program makes this statement "You can only recover lost photos if you have the serial number." Which means you will have to spend what EaseUS is currently asking, $69.94 for EaseUS Mobisaver and Data Recovery Wizard Professional. (You receive both for the $69.94.)Then and only then will you receive a "serial number" to use and there are no guarantees or refunds.

What I am concerned about is this: I don't mind spending the money, if I knew I could retrieve the lost photos. It appears that this might be wasted money, as there is no guarantee that my lost photos will be recovered.

My question for you: Do you think it would perhaps be "smarter" (for lack of a better word) to take the iPhone in to an actual place of business which handles such things as lost data on iPhones? These places have actual people you can talk with and they can look at your device in person. Also, some of them have a "money back guarantee". Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

I've not seen any places that are specific to iPhone recovery, but if you are in a big city like Houston or Dallas there is a chance that you will fine one.

I would try to con a friend or relative that is computer savvy into helping, particularly if you have an iTunes backup of the phone data, which should have all the old photos. It really just takes a lot of messing with to solve that if the pictures are there.

Good info on the EaseUS software, all of their other free stuff is actually free, so this is disappointing to hear.

And in the future, always backup your pictures and burn them to hard media like DVDs, as lost files from all devices is a huge problem. Perhaps you can get some of the pictures, or at least reasonable approximations from others that were there.

Hello RealBeast,

Thank you for your quick response. It is truly appreciated.

I do live in a big city. Therefore I am going to try one of these "recover data" places and see if they can help me. Also, I will try to find someone who is "computer savvy" to help me as well. Very good idea, thank you.

It just does not make sense that because I never deleted the photos in the first place that the photos would have disappeared. Then such is life. I learned a valuable lesson ALWAYS DOWNLOAD AND BACKUP PHOTOS!!! (Of course I have ALWAYS done this except with the missing photos.)

I will keep you advised as to how the "data recovery" process goes with my iPhone. Thank you again.

Happy Holidays.

Hello RealBeast,

Update on iPhone lost photos: I need your advice, please. I have looked at several data recovery businesses in my area. I am concerned because the prices for such recovery are between $300.00 and $2,000.00, again with no guarantee or refund. I would like to know your opinion: It appears to me that there are certain kinds of people that will try to take advantage of your loss of data and knowing that your heart is broken over the loss, will then give you "false hope" that the data is recoverable. Very sad, but as we all know some people just take our money.

My question for you: Where can I find a "computer savvy" person as I believe that is what I should be looking for instead of these data companies. No, they are not all bad, but the bad ones make the good ones look bad. So it is the way of life. Anyway, I recalled when I stated before that I had seen on EaseUS two photos which belonged to me, but were already downloaded on my computer. I started thinking and realized one photo was a year old and the other photo was about two years old. This made me think that perhaps my lost photos are still inside my iPhone. It doesn't make sense to me, that these two old photos taken a year or so ago would suddenly pop up in the EaseUS system. As I stated before, I had downloaded and then deleted these two photos. The missing photos I NEVER DELETED from my iPhone. I just need to know how to find a computer wizard and I think I would find the lost photos. Your opinion and knowledge would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I would not pay that for a phone photo recovery. If it were a full computer hard drive Seagate would do it for $300 with a guarantee of no pay if no recovery -- unfortunately they don't do phones. Those folks are just scam artists at those prices and no guarantees.

It's hard to say where you will find a knowledgeable computer person, ask around work or school with some of the IT types. Also ask some relatives, perhaps they might know someone that can help or maybe work with someone that has skills.

It's probably also worth trying some other recovery software that has a free trial to see what is available and then buy it if it shows you what you are looking for, like THIS ONE.

Hello RealBeast,

Thank you for your prompt response. I will look in to this iPhone photo recovery system. I hope it will retrieve my photos.

Also, I agree with you regarding the "scam artists" charging these ridiculous prices for data recovery and receiving no guarantee or refund. I will try to locate a knowledgeable computer person as a backup, in case the data recovery system doesn't work.

I will keep you informed of the status of my lost iPhone photos. Maybe I will have good news soon. Thank you for all you have done to help me. I appreciate you very much.
