So wanting to make a PC but unsure of what actual motherboard to get.

I am getting a:

-Corsair Crystal 570x RGB Mid Tower
-i7
-Nvidia GTX1080
-16gb or 32gb ram
-around 1-4 TB harddrive

I am unsure about which motherboard to actually get any help?

Cheers

You need a Z170 (With recent bios update, which COULD require having a 6th gen CPU if it's a board that does not have a Flashback feature integrated.) or Z270 motherboard for that CPU.

What really matters though is how much do you want to spend on a motherboard and what features do you NEED for it to have?

How many SATA drives will you be running?

Will you be running any M.2 drives, and if so, will they be SATA or PCI?

How many case fans do you plan to run and will you plan to run them off the native motherboard headers, or off a controller, or off an integrated fan hub if the case you end up going with has one?

What kind of cooling are you planning to run, air or water cooling, for the CPU?

What speed of RAM and how many modules...

That will depend on which EXACT I7 you are going to use.

In that case, I would suggest a Z370 based motherboard in order to support the overclocking made possible by your un locked CPU. Otherwise, putting a 'K' series CPU in a motherboard that can't be overclocked is a waste.

the Z370 chipset isn't compatible with 7th generation chipsets. for a 7700K you will need a motherboard with a Z270 or Z170 chipset

You are right! My bad!

And out of curiosity, what model of power supply are you planning to run all of this with?
