Finding the right mechanical keyboard?

I don’t really know much about the different kinds of mechanical keyboards and switches. Basically what I want is something where they keys flow easily, are very quiet, and everything is smooth with no “click” feeling. I got one with a new PC and it felt like I was typing on something from 1970 and made a loud snappy click noise with each key press. I invested in a Razer Blackwidow Chroma Stealth keyboard, and it was better, but still not quite what I’m looking for. It still feels kinda big and clunky. I think part of the problem is I’m used to using a Mac keyboard all day at work. I want something that will be great for typing, but also good for gaming. Most of my gaming is done with a gamepad because I just prefer that, but I still need to use the keyboard for some games like RTSes and diablo type games. Unfortunately, my local Best Buy and similar stores just have generic keyboards on display, so it's hard to go and try before I buy.

Can anyone help me figure out the type of keyboard / switch I need to look for?

The MX Silent switches match exactly what you are looking for. They are quiet and have a less of a click than other mechanical keyboards, takes a light touch to activate the key.

I have one of these https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-strafe-rgb-mx-silent-gaming-keyboard-black/4370907.p?skuId=4370907 I think the MX Silent keys and full RGB are a BestBuy exclusive, you can get a Red backlight for a bit cheaper https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-gaming-strafe-mechanical-usb-gaming-keyboard-black/5854504.p?skuId=5854504 https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-Mechanical-Keyboard-Backlit/dp/B01K7X4UW8

If you did not like your Razer though, you may not like these either. Go to a store and try out some keyboards. You won't have a mechanical keyboard with the mush feeling of an Apple keyboard. Looking for one is a bit similar to saying "I want to pay for Mercedes build but I only want to have a Ford feel and performance".

Great thanks, I'll look for keyboards with MX Silent keys.

I was just looking at the Razer Ornata Chroma too. I haven't been to best buy in a while, maybe they actually have modern keyboards on display these days. I'll check em out again and hopefully they have some I can try before I buy. I'm kinda partial to Razer since I have a RGB razer mouse and hard mouse mat, and I hate the idea of having a bunch of different rgb softwares to keep track of. Don't know why these companies can't just work together and come up with something universal for everyone.

tbh I have all my rgb stuff set to red, and then just never open the softwares ever again
