Long post incoming.

Apologies in advance if this is a dumber post than usually seen here. Recently just built my first computer. Literally didn't know anything a month ago.

Previous setup:
Ryzen 5 1600x
EVGA 2080 Super Ultra
Be Quiet! air cooler (not sure what the exact part is)
ASRock B350 Fatality
16gb G Skill 2400? hz
Samsung SSD
Seasonic 650w Gold
Carbide 275R
(Stock fans mounted as one front intake, one back exhaust)

When playing Warzone on lowest settings, I was getting:

80-100 FPS
79-82C CPU (Core Temp)
61-68C GPU (Precision 1)

*Idle: 47-54C CPU

I recently swapped in:
Ryzen 5 3600x
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
Corsair H100i 240mm
16gb G Skill 3600hz cl16

With:
  1. Cooler on quiet
  2. No clocking on CPU
  3. Ram set to 3600hz
  4. Same game settings
  5. 34C cooler
  6. Stock fans mounted as top and back exhaust
I'm now getting:
110-140 FPS
64-74C CPU (Core Temp)
58-62C CPU (Ryzen Master)
63-72 GPU (Precision 1)

*Idle:
54-61C (Core Temp)
41-44C (Ryzen Master)

Do those seem like normal differences between setups? These were logged in the last week, my room temp has been at a steady 80F.

Now for the weird part. My friend has the exact same setup as me, but with an EVGA 2070 Super Black. I literally mean same exact parts. With same settings for everything (clock, game) and his room fixed at 74F, we have these differences:

  1. His cooler temp is 24C. That's a 10C difference with a 6F difference in room temp.
  2. 140-160 FPS. Triple checked all settings. 30 FPS more with a weaker GPU.
  3. Forgot the idle/gaming temp, but I do remember it's more than 10C lower than mine. He uses ICUE to monitor.
Any input would be nice. Really just wondering how I ended up with a worse PC when it should at least perform the same. I've reseated the cooler 3 times, not sure what else to do.

When you reseated the cooler, did you reapply new paste? Usually it's not that big of a deal but resitting it 3 times will trap some bubbles in the paste. Also you should always install new os on a new mobo.

I didn't.

Will reinstall OS + new paste after work. I'll report back.

Thanks for all the help so far.
