Finite element Server

Hi, we are planning to build a server to use with ANSYS.

A partner has access to the license of ansys but they do not have the computational power to simulate. We are going to place a server and rent them the machine and they will rent us the service of software.

I will like your suggestions about building this machine in a middle budget.

We are planning to run explicit simulation on this machine as aslo fluent,cfd and structural

We can not buy a prebuilt system for reason that the local providers are thiefs.....

Have you though about a cluster of lower end (desktop i7) with NVIDIA GPUs. It looks like fluent will use GPUs. You could then add more nodes to your cluster as funds are available.

You can pick up slightly older xeons and their boards on ebay from when servers are updated. Just search xeon and when you find some you like, search for a motherboard with that socket.
