the 2.5 version is cheaper (by $15 CAD) [$80 vs $95]
5400 rpm
128 mb cache (3.5 inch version is 64 mb)

so obviously it would be slower than the 3.5 inch 7200 rpm

BUT will it be ok for a desktop build ?
will it last as long as a 3.5 inch harddrive?
is the 2.5 inch built better because it has to resist more heat and shock (since its going to be put in a laptop)?
will it move too much when its screwed into the 3.5 inch tray versus just having a 3.5
(case - corsair 100r)?

Solution
2.5" drives are more resistant to shocks but that doesn't make them live longer. If it's also the OS/BOOT drive I would recommend faster one.
