I was wondering(and most likely) about getting a new firewall because AVG2012 is blocking like almost all of my gaming programs from playing properly. I run Win7(64bit) and i just want security while surfin the web, gaming and so on you know normal stuff. Any suggestions? i hear ZoneAlarm is good but i have used it and remember it can be a little too good and annoyingly good at times haha. And then there is Comodo? i think ive heard that before is that better than ZA?
Any Suggestions?? Thank you in advance i appreciate any help whatsoever !! And i apologize if this isnt in the right section of the forums i didnt know where to put it!!

I'll let you in on a little secret... you don't need any anti-virus. Just use the windows firewall, windows defender, and common sense. It also helps to turn your UAC settings up. Anti-virus doesn't do anything but slow your computer down because it has to scan everything constantly. If a hacker wants to give you a virus or get access to your computer they are going to regardless of what protection you have.

Point of my view I only use Avast free version.
However Avast pro version give you full firewall protection.
Avast has option called "Game Mode" this will give you little bit free when you play games.
However any 3rd party firewall will give you Annoying choices and popups that can not be gone away.

I had ZoneAlarm back in 2002 it gives me too much trouble when i do some thing in pc software.

such as unknown IP address and tiny software engine stuff that i have no idea. Can't block every thing and also can't allow every thing.
If i allow every thing what point of having a firewall ahahahah

So far Avast free give me great protection but i didn't try pro version.

Give a try most of review said Avast Pro is very good software.

Good luck~

Well, that's why we use setting to suppress warnings on generic messages!

I have not seen any warnings since couple of days since the install, because if u once create a rule for everything, there is no reason to be bothered by the same task again .

Really. What if u get exploited by an attacker that will use security vulnerabilities in the windows and your programs, many of which could lead to arbitrary code execution?

These are exactly the same types of vulnerabilities that Windows malware writers take advantage of.

So, if u will never get exploited, u don't need any protection at all, but u never know : )

My 2¢...
