Firewire from Cable Box - Possibilities?

What can you do with the firewire from the cable box? Can I turn my computer into a DVR using this?


Goals:
Watch and Record HD TV on my Computer from Box
Change Channels on Box from Computer



I subscribe to several pay channels (mainly Center Ice) and want to record some of the games on my computer...what hardware do I need to do this? I also want to record some HD programming...

can it be done? sure. but it all depends on what cable box you have.

if enough people find this feature useful? it becomes a sales point, and that means money so the feature will be put into a product, with the exception of if this feature takes away money from someone else

nice, my cable box has a usb port in it , will that work as well?

I tried your link but just got the home page and couldn't find anything related to the topic or a tutotrial .no cable boxes at all ,just TV cards and satelite.
