Now, I know you guys probably see too many of these threads already, but I'd really like your help. After reading an article in MaximumPC, I decided to finally just go ahead and save up for my first gaming build. I've never built a PC before, so I showed their build to a friend, where he changed some things around, and picked out a monitor, keyboard and mouse. I just have a few questions for you all:

I'm pretty sure it will, but will everything fit in the case? I'm specifically worried about the graphics card, which he switched out.

Is the monitor too much in comparison to the rest of the build? Is it around the same budget level?

One last thing, there is a warning in the bottom of the page about the RAM's voltage. Is that something I should be worried about, or is it just the site's speculations?

The build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Noble_/saved/9zgZxr

Thanks, Noble

There are a few things I would to:

1) Buy the Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler - it is cheaper and supposed to be the top air cooler. It is always recommended by people on here.
2) Don't spend that much on a keyboard and mouse, that could go into better stuff. I am happy with my $17 mouse/keyboard combo. Try to spend less on those, that is a lot.
3) You could but the Seagate Barricuda hard drivd 1TB for about $8 less and is a reliable one.

Then I would put all that money into a better GPU. I really think you could get a GTX 970 in there, which would be a total beast!

This is a $1000 core build and as such 'ought' to have a GTX970.

To afford it: (You need about $130)

Use slightly cheaper memory, but still DDR3-1600 CAS 8 or 9.

Use a Crucial MX100 256Gb SSD

Shave the rest from the mouse and Keyboard.

Pure power!

Thanks guys, I updated the build. I changed the gpu to a GTX 970, I swapped the mouse, keyboard, RAM and storage for better but cheaper units. Also, thanks for the tip on the keyboard and mouse price. I probably would have wasted a lot of money on that! I downgraded, and now I have a 970 for about the same price as I had before! If you want to look over it, that would be great, but if not, did you think the choice of monitor was okay?

Well that was dumb, sorry Donkey. I went ahead and made the account, so link should be updated now.. Upon recommendation from a few others I talked with, I switched the mono from the msi to a slightly cheaper asrock model.
