First Build Advice

Hello,
Planning my first build.
I was gonna start with ASUSP6X58D-E MOBO and Intel i7960 CPU. I would like to go 12GB. Is 6x2 Tripple channel a good mem setup?

Go by the qvL listing for your asus board; the more ram you use, the more critical it is to match the ram, especially with asus. On some boards, 3x4 gb will also work, but two sets of 3x2 gb may be cheaper.

Finished build. Decided to go with 12gb (3x4) coarsair vengeance (not on qvl) and it's working fine. Got lucky I guess.
