Hello everyone, this is my first post so hello to everyone. There seemed to be a lot of good advice and a lot of activity on this forum, so I decided to join! So thank you in advance for any advice/input.

To begin, I'm upgrading from a pc from 2005 and it was pretty good at the time of purchase. I do some gaming (not as much as i use too) but like them to run smooth, basic web surfing and video watching, minor video/editing, and would like decent sound abilities. My prefered budget is $500 but with this this i pushed over that with Windows 7, but any $$ savings is a plus. I will be adding the video card at a later time for budget reasons. I'd like to be able to upgrade if I ever feel I want to do more with it. I've come up with a list that I'd just like someone with experience to give it a look over to make sure I didn't come up with any red flag items and that they are all compatible and that it would work to my preferences.

I chose a larger psu for the later added video card, ram, and possible multiple HD, dvd/blu ray, bigger video card, ect... Any suggestions, am I on the right path?

Weird choice in motherboard.
Get an H97 chipset for cheaper and more functionality, such as the Asrock H97 anniversary.

The power supply is WAAAAAAYYYYY overkill wattage wise but below par in quality. Get a 500-600W unit from XFX/Seasonic/Antec.

Wow fast reply guys thanks. The motherboards are the hardest things to me to figure out i guess mostly what features am i going to use and such. Very open to suggestions on that part, like I said something that I could possible upgrade with, like a better processor at some point. Novuake can you post a link to the board you were talking about?

As for the psu, I used the calculator on newegg and it said with that video card, upwords of 800watts and I figured that was too high but I don't doubt you about it. Ill go with that one posted there, thank you.
Is that much memory help that much more? Its not to bad to on the wallet to add on either.

My overall budget is gonna be $500 before the OS and video card. I am not against other merchants.

As for the 2 boards, I noticed one is a 4pin 12 volt plug and one is a 8pin, is that not an issue or is the psu have both?

Also, if you would, explain what functions the boards you posted pose over the board I selected and the issues with the one I selected, as I'd like to learn what makes a better choice in a board.

Its not that simple, however.

1. The B85 chipset is designed for the Intel generation BEFORE the CPU you chose. So you could potentially lose out on some USB3 or SATA 3 ports.

2. H97 is generally a more feature rich chipset.

3. Its cheaper with similar functionality and quality.

The PSU will have both.
