First build-cant decide what motherboard to get

Can we have rest of your sig? So we can determine what motherboard to get.

The PSU that comes with the APEVIA case or (Aspire case) is not a good quality PSU. Let us know what system are you planing to build and then we will decide what PSU too.

I'm looking to build a gaming rig for about 12-1400.

havent decided on video card yet but it will be at least a
GeForce 7950GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16

I would say that an Antec TruePower Trio 550w would do the job. If you want to upgrade later to a GeForce 8800 GTX/8900 or ATI 2800XTX/2900 (or even more robust cards down the road like the next generation in fall 2007 when they'll available) you should go for an Antec TruePower Trio 650w.

All this is assuming that you won't be running SLI/Crossfire (which you shoudn't if if you play at 1024x768 or 1280x1024 anyway). If you go that way than prepare yourself to go for at least a good 700w PSU like OCZ GameXstream 700w...

Hope that helps.

does buying
PNY VCG88GTSXPB GeForce 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card
change anything?..i just decided on getting that. Seems like a good video card for a medium price.

I second that. Good board overall even does ocing well.

For the PSU If you plan to go with 8800gts you will need around 32 amps on +12V rail. This PSU or this PSU will be enough and pleanty of room to oc. You cant go wrong with these.

would http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817159056 work? I was planning to get that with a combo pack for the motherboard.
I would not recommended this PSU. Look here. The CoolMax CTG-750W/850W/1KW are good but not that one. Spend wisly on a PSU. It the most overlooked component in a system.
