I'm looking for a good brand PSU that will be reliable. my current build is
I7 4770K
GTX 780
Asus Maximus IV Hero motherboard
16GB gskill trident 2400/10CL

Someone lead me in the direction of some SeaSonic power supplies and after reading tons of reviews ALOT of people were saying they were experiencing either a coil whine or their PCI things were literally melting.. please help this is my first build

Solution

His configuration is a high end one, its better if he invests in a good grade power supply rather than a builder series.
I'm not saying that the builder series is bad, I myself am going to buy the CX500M soon.
But this is a much safer choice with greater efficiency etc

Do you think 850 watts is a good spot to be considering I plan on installing a custom water loop? with pump and rads people have said a 750w is plenty but ive also been told just to be safe get 850w its better to have too much than not enough

in this case if you are willing to perform overclocking or crossfire ..then yes ..you should go with Corsair AX850..it will be a better choice ..

Always better safe than sorry. Go for the AX860i

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139044 ????? is this good

YEAH!!...its good ...as I was just considering something a little more cheaper ....but no doubt it is GREAT..😉

Solution

I chose the ax860 over the 860i because I read that the ax860 has a higher quality fan, and the ax860i can get a bit loud under load.

I suggested 860i because of digital control and monitoring..
But the AX860 is your best choice!
