m/b: https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z490 Extreme4/index.asp#Specification or this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174720862700?hash=item28ae2cc9ec:g:c30AAOSw0CJgbOVB cant seem to find many argb motherboard though. mainly rgb ones.

Solution
hi

i didnt want a too high/good cpu because of cost so thought i would go in the middle, well thats my thinking anyway. have you got a cpu in mind?

i have abit of spare time so i thought i would learn and build a better pc, i was thinking of trying out some top games too. not looked at any yet as been trying to find parts for this build first.

as for budget, i dont really have one, just trying to keep cost down but if i have to pay bit more then will do.
B560/H510 board + i5 10400F or i5 11400F + 2x8GB 3200Mhz CL16 RAM along with your current gpu until prices get back to normal.

Using Scan as an example...

Solid choices. That board has some nifty RGB features.

Here's a decent aftermarket cpu cooler worth having a look at.

thank you :)

it was the lowest cost and had 2 argb and 2 rgb headers so its a win win on that board.

that cpu cooler was my original purchase but then i decided i wanted argb so i went with this:

Do you already have a graphics card?
They are very hard to buy now, and are at double msrp.
I might suggest that you spend a bit more for the i5-10400(not the f version) so that you get integrated graphics.
Otherwise, looks ok.
Since you own the case, keep it.
yes i have a graphic card already (nvidia gtx 480)
isnt the 10400 cheaper than the 11400?

I mis-typed. I meant the 11400 which has the advantage of higher performance per clock than the 10400.
I would always spend a few dollars more to get integrated graphics.
You can never tell when you might need it to diagnose a discrete graphics card problem.
Your GTX480 is now over 10 years old and could fail at any time.

ok, thank you for that.

i have bookmarked it.

i do have 2 gtx 480 and both is running, i really cannot afford a gpu in this time as you already know.

I do not think the motherboard you picked will support sli.
It may be a moot point.
Dual gpu support is going away.
Few modern games support dual gpu.
You might try running with just one GTX480 card.
Yes, you get nice synthetic fps benchmarks, but your gaming experience will likely be better with a good single card.
dual gpu is prone to screen tearing and stuttering.

Good you cleared that up.
I think you are good to go.
If you want a cooler for the rgb "bling" ok; not my style.
The included stock cooler for the i5 non overclocked processors will do the job.Are you planning on a ssd, at least for windows?
Intel or samsung would be my picks for quality.

yeah sorry about that, sometimes i dont explain properly.

that is brilliant, cant wait to build this.

i have always liked lights on my pc, i had an alienware pc several years ago and i really like the lighting on that. i guess some might thinks it looks cheap or something like that.

i will be using my own hard drives, got a 250gb samsung ssd 840 evo for my windows and 1 x 1tb and 1 x 2tb
