First Build - Fans and LEDs On, No Display

I've just finished building my first gaming PC and have run into a problem when trying to boot up. The fans (CPU and case) and LEDs (case and motherboard) turn on but there's no display output.

My System:
Motherboard: MSI B350 PC Mate
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 w/ stock Wraith Stealth heatsink/fan
RAM: 2 x 8GB Team T-Force Dark DDR4 3000
GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 Armor MK 2 OC 8GB
Storage: Mushkin Pilot 250GB M.2 SSD
PSU: Corsair CX500

What I've Tried:
1. Verified all connections (cpu power, cpu fan, ATX power, vga power, case connections)
2. Verified RAM is seated properly and in the correct slot(s) per motherboard manual
3. Used both sticks of RAM, used a single stick of RAM, swapped the sticks with each other
4. Verified graphics card is seated properly and in the correct slot per motherboard manual
5. Tried both HDMI outputs from graphics card, HDMI output from motherboard, VGA output from motherboard.
6. Verified monitor works with another source.

Possible causes?
1. I've read that some B350 motherboards may need to have the BIOS updated in order to work with 2nd gen Ryzen processors. Could this be the problem?
2. With just the CPU, fan, and SSD installed, the EX Debug indicates a problem with both the CPU and DRAM, but the onboard graphics and VGA lights don't come on even without either component existing in the system. Does this point to a faulty motherboard?

I'm really not sure what else to do, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any way to check the BIOS version on my MoBo? I'm not 100% sure that's the problem and it sounds like it will take many days before I actually receive a fix to the problem if I take that route.

The box says Ryzen ready but it doesn't mention 2nd gen (probably because there was no 2nd gen when they made this board?)
