Hi all,

my friend is looking to build his first gaming PC, and wants a budget of "as low as possible." He wants to play Fallout 4, ideally at 1080p. He wants the framerate to be above 30 fps - ideally 60, but not necessarily. He doesn't mind what settings, though Medium upwards is ideal.

I was thinking an FX-4300, 8GB RAM and an R9 280, but less expensive would be good.

A monitor probably is not necessary, as he says he can play on a TV, so something to make couch gaming comfortable would be much appreciated.

Thanks for all your help,
Dovahkitty

From what I have heard, Bethesda games are more cpu bound than other pc games tend to be. Also, they work better on intel cpus than AMD. Skyrim certainly did. It would be worth looking into. (I'm not an expert)

Well, regardless, a more powerful cpu would be better in this case

What about Pentium G3258? It has better performance per core than FX 4300, but only has 2 cores. It's also cheaper and could let you spend more on the GPU.

True... I'll have a look.
