First Build - How did I do?

I have ordered most of the parts except the CPU, Mobo and the case. I will be using this PC just for surfing the Web and gaming. Hopefully it is good enough that I can run games like Rust, League of Legends, and Minecraft.

So these are parts I chose, hope the parts I've already bought aren't bad.

CPU - I went with the AMD FX 6300, I thought this was the best bang for the buck for my budget.

Mobo - I have my eye on the M5A97 R2.0, but I'm not sure if I'll get that or the Extreme 3 or even the M5A78-L.

GPU - After much headache and over thinking, I chose to go with the Gigabyte GTX 660. I was either going to pick this or the 7850. But due to the better ratings/reviews and the better performance at stock I chose to go with this card.

Memory - I bought the G Skill Ripjaws X Series 2x4 SDRAM 1600. I'm actually not sure what SDRAM is but hopefully this is a good memory.

Hard drive - 1Tb Western Digital Blue

Optical drive - $17 DVD-ROM

Power supply - Corsair CX 500 Modular 80 bronze. I think this is enough power for my build.

Case - undecided.

So overall, How did I do? I'm very excited on building this. It should be an upgrade over my current build

I5 2430M 2.3 or 2.4ghz laptop.
Interpreted Hd3000 graphics
4 Gb DDR2
125Gb Hard drive

Pretty good setup

I would choose a better motherboard like the asus M5A99fx, its a little bit more expensive but will last well, oh and if you can afford it, i would get an SSD

I'm on a budget [$250] for case, CPU and Mobo. I'll be saving up for a CPU cooler before I buy a SSD probably.

The M5A97 R2.0 is a great board. It is the best out of the ones you listed. Just make sure you DO NOT get the LE version.

This will be a perfectly fine mid range gaming computer capable of playing those games very well and more intensive modern games at a mix of medium and high settings at 1080p.

Yes! I Love to hear that kind of feedback. The only thing I'm concerned of is that parts being DOA or bad (not working). That's why I chose the most reputable brands. I would hate to wait a month of RMA :/

I have bought parts from the best companies in existence (ASUS, GIGABYTE, Seasonic, Antec, EVGA) and I have gotten DOAs. Its a normal part of building a computer.

However RMA's do not take a month. In my experience 10 business days is the LONGEST I have waited from the day I shipped it. I have had some turn around as fast as me shipping it out monday and getting it back friday.

Oh wow that makes me feel a whole lot better. Also what exactly is SDRAM, is it any different from the regular 1600 8gb.

SDRAM is a just a type of memory controller. Nothing to worry about. That RAM will work perfectly fine.
