Build Specs:
i7-4770K (not running OC'd)
Asus Z97 Mark 2
NZXT Kraken X61 Cooler
EVGA GTX660
Corsair 32G Ballistic Ram
Samsung 840 Pro SSD (x2)
Corsair 760T Tower
750B PSU
+2 Corsair Fans
Win 7 Pro
WD MyBook for on-demand media file backup.
Problem:
The machine, on opening a new window or opening Task Manager or moving around a simple block in CC Illustrator will do so with a slight delay and “freeze up” for a second. I disconnected the WD Green Drive that was attached to see if that had anything to do with the lag, but it didn't help.
Another item that consistanlty lags is when I go into Nividia CP to go from a single monitor to a dual monitor. After clicking APPLY the Yes or No options come up and I'm frozen for at least 3-4 seconds and even then the click/mouse action is delayed.
I closed down any and all programs I could find running in the background, but for example - if Media Center starts recording a show opening Chrome takes a long time and just normal web browsing becomes very slow.
When I built this machine (my first build ever) I was under the assumption that these components would be easily capable of browsing a few websites while running Photoshop without seemingly being bogged down.
I’m open to any tests, screenshots or other things you might require to help me troubleshoot this issue. I did a great deal of my research on TH before tackling my build.
Thanks and look forward to your comments!
Below are two screenshots with very few open items (at least I think I only have a few items open - 2 Chrome tabs)
