Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week, im very very excited :bounce:

Budget Range: $500-650

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (currently skyrim 70+mods at 10 fps on low...), porn if im being honest  , and general tech savvy tom foolery.

Are you buying a monitor: i use my 40 inch TV (vga/hdmi)

Parts to Upgrade: id like to use parts from my aspire X1430G if they wont slow me down, maybe keep the ram and the optical and HDD???

Do you need to buy OS: uhhh, idk, would the windows 7 on my hard drive still work if i dont clear it? either way a buddy says he can get me a copy of windows and i can also use ubuntu right?

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: anywhere with a decent rating and price. i generally use amazon or newegg or pcppartpicker but im open.

Location: lincoln, ne, usa, aka middle of nowhere

Parts Preferences: This is what I've picked out so far but again im open to suggestions on all of it (but the tempest is the only case out of thousands that i looked at that i liked, js) and this will sound dumb but a color scheme would b nice but not essential.
case - nzxt tempest elite 410
mother - AS Rock LGA1155 Intel Z77 CrossFireX SATA3 USB3.0 A GbE ATX Z77 PRO4
ram - 2x 3ddr 1333 for now if it wont hinder the system much.
cpu - i5 quad core (dunno which one though)

Overclocking: i'd like to try just to say i do lol.

SLI or Crossfire: it would be nice just in case but i honestly dont know.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920 x 1080

Additional Comments: my current addiction is skyrim 70 + mods and running at 10 fps on my POS aspire. im thinking of leaving ps4 for desktop so yea.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: well 1 ps4 comes out soon, 2 im not playing consoles much anymore, 3 my aspire sucks balls :pfff: .

We won't help you pirate windows here. No, you cannot use a HDD with it already installed. You have to do a fresh install

In order to Play game son high settings, dedicate at least $200 of your budget for the GPU. Remember that gaming is 15% CPU and 80% GPU.

I can max skyrim and I have an i3.

You can reuse the DVD drive from your old PC, thats about it.

Don't forget you will need a good PSU 500w+ Antec, XFX, Corsair, SEasonic.

ok a few more questions, sry. is this motherboard good enough?
http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-H77-Motherboard-PRO4-MVP/dp/B007NOYCZ0/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1362376037&sr=1-2
ill look into the i3 and i5 more later but when i do, what is the differences in the 4 digit numbers? cause theres lots of i5's and i3's that all seem very similar.
so lets assume that i have between 180 and 300 to spend on gpu, what are some good gpu's throughout that range?
also some say video supported and otehrs say video ready, does this mean i have to get a video card on some but not others?

He's got a $600 budget. I don't think crossfire / SLI matters much. (Besides, he'l be going with an AMD card anyways, for value's sake.)

Just throwing out there, the 7870 does NOT equal the 7870 XT - the xt model should rightly be named the 7930, as it's a slightly disabled 7950.

i read the P means its HD graphics are disabled. and i read about the LE card before i even posted here and its a good card but what about time variance?

It's not going to be a problem.
Crossfire and SLI is using two AMD or two Nvidia cards working together.

It's only recommended if a single high-end card isn't enough (for triple monitor setups or insane resolution or 3d or what have you) and you need more power.

I can pretty much guarantee you that you aren't going to go out and buy two Nvidia GTX 670s and then complain that your motherboard is the problem - you'd want to upgrade the rest of your system before you did that anyways.
