First Build - Need Advice

I am looking to build my first gaming PC and I am a little apprehensive due to the sheer volume of options out there. I am not looking to break the bank, so I tried to find a happy medium between price and performance. This is what I have put together so far after an hour or two of internet research:

My goals here are to have a gaming PC that performs pretty well above average for the majority of games, wont need to be upgraded overly soon, can be upgraded part by part when the time comes, and won't cost an ungodly amount of money. I am also a musician, so good sound is also very important to me as I will likely be recording and playing back lots of music on it. Please tell me anything that looks like overkill/underkill(is that a word?), or anything that I don't have listed that I need to make this a good rig. Thanks in advance!

I changed out a few things to make it more powerful, but if you have the budget get a 270x.

Is the Intel i5 appreciably better than than the AMD fx6300? And the Gigabyte vs the MSI? I don't mind if the performance is a little less if I can keep costs down.

The Intel i5 destroys the 6300, But the 6300 will get the job done. I would like to apologize I though both builds were the same price.
