Hi, I play & record a lot of xbox using a HDPVR 2 & also hope to record some pc game play as well, however I understand that to play the top new release games you can't jst have any computer.
I've never tried to build my own before, so thought I'd give it a go.
My budget unfortunately is only £850.. yet my setup has come to over £1000, anyway to help me put this down? Also, any advice on where i've gone wrong (Since I know I probably have being it my first time...) would be greatly appreciated :)

CPU - Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (£239.99)

CPU Cooler - Corsair H80i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (£73.96)

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£86.24)

Memory - Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£131.88)

Storage - Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£107.09)
+
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£42.00)

Video Card - Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card (£136.34)

Case - Antec Three Hundred Two ATX Mid Tower Case (54.99)

Power Supply - Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX (£119.82)

Optical Drive - Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer (£12.50)

Operating System - Microsoft Windows 8.1 - OEM (64-bit) (81.50)

Do you plan to play games at their max intended settings or do you plan to push them further with config tweaks, downsampling and mods etc? If you only intend to play at max intended settings (as in going into the options and setting everything to max) then you've got some stuff you don't really need.

CPU - You can go for a cheaper CPU, maybe an i7 3770K or even drop down to a high grade i5.
CPU Cooler - Water cooling is way unnecessary if you're not going to overclock.
MOBO - I don't know much about motherboard models so I can't really comment on that without looking into it.
RAM - You're probably right in going for 16gb. You may not need that much now, but you will soon enough.
Storage - You definitely don't need an SSD, but it is a nice thing to have. It's pretty much just faster load times, not an impact on actual gameplay.
GPU - I don't really know the AMD models, but to be honest, just get the most expensive one you can afford 😛
Case - This is really up to your preferences. Good to get one that has room for upgrades later, but if you're trying to save money just get one that fits what you currently want perfectly.
PSU - 850W is probably more than you need, unless you plan to add stuff later on.
Optical Drive - You don't need one at all unless you still buy games on physical discs.
OS - For compatibility reasons I'd stick with Win7 64bit for a while longer.

Hope that helps.

Hmm, you are spending a lot more on cpu and psu than your gpu. You won't be needing 4770k, you can do pretty much of your stuff good enough with i5 4670k so you will be able to spend more on a better gpu.
Speaking of psu, I don't think you would need that big power supply as even 750w will be more than enough for crossfire for high end cards.
If you are not thinking of crossfire in the future then any decent quality 600-650w psu should do.
So get the 4670k and get a bit smaller psu (650w i'd say) so you can save for a better gpu as you will also be recording games which consumes some performance.
Also you would not need that much ram. Even while recording and playing games at ultra hardly 10 gb ram will be used up. Yet I think 12 gb ram should be more than enough for you. That should help you get a gpu like gtx 760. But I'd say try for gtx 770.
