Trying to build a rig good enough to play current-gen games on maximum (not too concerned with future games at the moment, but I'm also not planning to upgrade anything for 1-2 years). My current, tentative parts list is located at http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Zeldaniac/saved/2GNA. (I don't have a hard drive or optical drive on the list as I already have those.)

1. Are the parts compatible? PCPartPicker says they are, but I'd like an answer from a human.
2. Are the parts a good value? I'm looking to spend less, but not at the sacrifice of quality. (I'm rather set on the video card, though, largely due to the recent price decrease and the three games temporarily bundled with it.)
3. How will it run? Battlefield 3 multiplayer + iTunes is likely the most intense action this system will endure. I've not a clue whether the current parts are insufficient, or way overkill.
4. Is it worth it to buy a 256GB SSD drive? I'm considering it, but I'm already past my planned budget.

Thanks!

A couple things yes the parts are compatible. It would be nice for you to get a 120 GB SSD for bootup, but it wont affect gaming. I would go with haswell cpu though. I also like corsair vengeance ram better and the NZXT Source will be better priced. And this is actually cheaper than what you had listed http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1YnnM

Thanks, I switched to the NZXT source and will likely use the Corsair RAM. Is the haswell CPU worth it? I know it's only a $10 difference but I've heard that it's inefficient.

Also, I'm thinking about the SSD drive for OS + games, rather than just the OS.

120 GB will hold OS and a couple games, but you might wanna bump up to 256. I heard the haswell has 10% faster speeds I believe, plus it's the newest CPU so why not?

Okay, thanks. I think I'm at my final parts list (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Zeldaniac/saved/2KG3), with a different case (refurbished Tempest 410), and a 250GB SSD.
